A great little donut shop on Melbourne St! The cute signage and mildly faecitious name caught my eye many times while driving past… is it a cafe, I wondered? After staking out their Instagram page and finding out that they serve donuts and croissants not butter OR toast, I decided I needed to try for myself. I popped in on Easter Sunday and got 4 donuts to take away - lemon meringue, ube, Vietnamese coffee and pandan. The donuts are light; airy but with that nice donut-y chew to the bite. Perfect amount of filling in each. Although the viet coffee was the flavour that caught my eye initially, my favourites would have to be lemon meringue and pandan. But really, they were all great.
There were a couple of tables free when I went in, but the place is small enough that I would not bank on being able to get a table in future. I will most likely get takeaway again next time I come.

It’s a very lovely place and a hidden gem in Adelaide with the tasty food and nice drink by hand-mad. The staff is very nice and supportive, the atmosphere is really nice when you can hangout with your friends, lover or even with family. Also, they usually have a stall in the gilles at the grounds, come and check it out!!!! Highly recommended!!!!

Great little coffee spot on Melbourne Street, North Adelaide. Melbourne street is looking great, with several new cafes and shops, new buildings and trees now established.
This an excellent little spot to stop for coffee.
Coffee is excellent and the staff are nice.
The donuts are not the hole in the middle type- but the filled type. There were many to choose from, i had the Banoffee, which i can recommend.
They also have a “bake of the week”. Check out their instagram.
Donuts are $6.50 each and coffees are $4.50, which is great value.
The area within the cafe is small and there are just a few seats outside.

Absolutely love this place! It’s a must-visit in Adelaide.
Butter & Toast is one of Adelaide’s sweetest gems. Their sourdough doughnuts are unbeatable: light and fluffy. The cinnamon buns are melt-in-your-mouth perfection: soft, buttery, and completely addictive!
Pair any pastry with their excellent coffee, or try their matcha and hojicha lattes, which are rich, balanced, and absolutely delicious.
The team here is so warm and passionate, and you can taste the care in everything they make!
Highly recommended to anyone who loves pastries, coffee, or simply good vibes.

They have a huge variety of delicious and unique flavoured filled doughnuts. There is something for everyone.
We bought eight items (a mix of doughnuts, cheesecake and savoury) and it was more than enough to share amongst eight people.
Excellent service. The staff seem very happy to be there, which is always a good sign.

I had an incredible experience at Butter and Toast before rushing to the airport in the morning.
If you’re a fan of high-quality, artisanal bakes and perfectly crafted coffee, this spot on Melbourne Street is a must-visit. Everything we ordered was top-tier.
The pandan donut was the star of the show! The dough was incredibly light and fluffy, perfectly complemented by a rich, aromatic pandan filling that wasn't overly sweet.
The garlic cream bun was such a savory masterpiece. The bun was soft, and the garlic butter cream was indulgent and packed with flavor—highly recommend if you want something decadent.
Not to mention the cinnamon roll thats covered in a generous amount of delicious frosting. It’s exactly what a cinnamon roll should be.
The attention to detail in both the food quality and the presentation is outstanding. Whether you're stopping in for a quick caffeine fix or a slow weekend treat, you won't be disappointed. I’ll definitely be back for more!

Yum, yum, yum!
Cinnamon scroll was fluffy and soft with the right amount of icing.
Iced coffee was elite! Actually strong enough without being bitter.
Friendly staff, but the best part was the garlic bun! OMG I’ve been dreaming about the soft, creamy garlicky inside and will be back soon for another one!
They also have the most amazing flavoured donuts, will be trying one next time for sure!!
